Special and Different offer a wide range of training sessions aimed at people who encounter alcoholism or the effects of alcoholism in their working lives. Our training will help professionals to identify and deal with alcoholics and their families and will give them effective strategies to help them to work with such individuals. Our Trainers
We aim to deliver rewarding and interesting training, designed to reach all learning styles, which will enhance the professional practice of people working in the caring professions.
Rachel Young - is an experienced group facilitator with 13 years of working with alcoholics and addicts both when they are in active addiction and in recovery. She spent 18 months working with addicts and alcoholics in treatment in a prison setting. She co-developed and delivered a groundbreaking 6 week pilot programme desigend to give alcohol dependent clients in prison an awareness of their condition, how it affects those around them and how they can address their issues successfully. The programme was acclaimed for its innovative approach and effective results.
Valerie Corbett - is BACP accredited and has an advanced Diploma in Counselling and Group work. she has worked for many years in the addiction field and is an enthusiastic proponent of using art based materials and activities as a way of learning expressing and exploring emotions and resolving internal conflicts.
